SCHOENSTATT, mkf. "Mass is about to begin! You can see perfectly! The yellow kerchief really looks good on Rosita! They have just put up the poster ‘What are you going to do for your country?’ It is so lovely to see the Auxiliary Shrine from Argentina!" "Oh! There went the transmission. I hope we get the signal back soon (this is a "live" transmission on the impressions from Argentina!)" It is 5 AM in Argentina. Juan Barbosa is following live from his computer the Holy Mass which Father Angel Strada is celebrating in the Original Shrine with a group of pilgrims and several Schoenstatt Sisters of Mary from Argentina. It is a Homeland Holiday in Argentina, and thanks to Schoenstatt-TV, the 13,000 km distance between Córdoba and the Original Shrine does not seem to exist in the least…..

For the pilgrims from Argentina who arrived the previous evening from Rome, it is the beginning of a sunny day in Schoenstatt, a festive day. It is 10 AM; a large group from the German Family Federation has just finished their Mass, and now the MTA awaits them. The Auxiliary from Chaco presides at the front of the altar and several Pilgrim MTA’s crowned with Rosaries, are resting at the foot of the St. Vincent Pallotti statue. "St. Pallotti missionary," say a smiling Sister of Mary. Father Angel Strada greets the pilgrims and those connected via Internet…..

Able to share a heavenly experience

"I do not know if it is because I opened the page, but the signal returned and I am looking at it perfectly anew! Father Angel mentioned the campaign "What are you going to do for your country?" You could hear perfectly the voice of Carlos Adrogué singing…..and then it went off, but then it returned! Very impressive the choir of Rosita and Carlos! And Rosita’s intentions! The transmission was extraordinary!

It is 11 AM in Germany and 6 PM in Argentina when Mass ends – and the transmission is ended. "Everything went perfectly. It is a heavenly experience being able to share, thanks to these things and to the beautiful experience of the pilgrims from Argentina….. It has truly been a privilege to be able to be at Mass in the Original Shrine at 13,000 kms in distance. Having the PressOffice in Schoenstatt and Schoenstatt-TV, Argentina is "only a click away" from the Holy Land of Schoenstatt."

The campaign "What are you going to do for your country?" in the Original Shrine

There is a special joy for those from Córdoba at this Mass, comments Juan Barbosa.

"The poster we can see at "La Catorce," on Hugo West y Nuñez, on Tejeda and calle 10, at the foot of the Cerro, at el Buen Pastor and at dozens of corners and hundreds of posters in our Córdoba, in addition to those who are on "pilgrimage" on the Coniferal buses throughout the city. Arrived at the Original Shrine and from there…..to the world! How fantastic it is to be a capable instrument! How happy must Fr. Marcelo and our youths be for the work they are doing!"

"The atrocious charm of being Argentineans"

In his homily, Father Angel Strada highlighted in different parts, the values which the Argentineans have and which made them great; he spoke about "the atrocious charm of being Argentineans" just like the writer, Marcos Aguinis, titled one of his books on which Fr. Angel also spoke. He invited us to"get to work on concrete facts just like the Youths from Córdoba invite us to do so" in order to improve the present as a country.

Before the final benediction, with the poster "What are you going to do for your country?" on the altar, a prayer was said for the homeland: "Jesus Christ, Lord of history, we need you. We feel wounded and burdened. We need your healing and strength. We want to be a nation, a nation whose identity is the passion for truth and the commitment for the common good….."

Shrine pilgrims

After Mass, there is a wave of greetings and a beautiful festivity. It is an enormous joy to see Sister María Teresa, Father Angel Strada, and the Sisters from Argentina who are presently in charge of adoration in the Original Shrine. With contagious enthusiasm, the pilgrims relate that they were in Rome when the documents for the process of Don Joao arrived and that they were able to take the Auxiliary to the tomb of John Paul II.

The time for pilgrimage in Schoenstatt had just begun, but it was already clear: "It is a dream to be over here…..to be in the Original Shrine," says Blanca Benitez from Corrientes. "I want to spend the entire day in the Shrine….."
